Who is it that runs the Change Conference?
Change Conference ’11 is hosted and organized by the Canadian Youth Network. The 2011 key partners include Christian Horizons, Billy Graham Association Canada, Simply Youth Ministry Canada, Canadian Bible Society and The Gospel Lighthouse.
Who is the Canadian Youth Network?
The Canadian Youth Network is a grassroots ministry that has the vision to change the spiritual climate of Canada through a nation of spiritually healthy teens. CYN exists to serve Canadian churches by supporting YOUTH LEADERS as they develop spiritually healthy teens. CYN’s website is www.canadianyouth.net
How many years has Change Conference been taking place?
2011 will be the seventh year that Change Conference has been running as a 1½ day, Evangelism and Empowering event. It began as an extension to the annual one night Change Your World event which began in 2002. Officially this event is now in its 10th year.
Why did CYN begin the Change Conference?
Change Conference began as a result of CYN listening to a common theme among youth leaders that there was very little being offered to EMPOWER & INSPIRE leadership level teens and young adults. This event has been welcoming communicators/speakers from across the globe that understands the context of young leaders in Canada.
What are the Focus Groups on the Saturday Schedule?
Rather than being driven by seminars and break-out sessions, this event is based mainly on what is typically known as plenary sessions. We provide a 1½ hour opportunity for individuals to go to several “focused group” options. These sessions allow a Q&A, up-close and personal contact with the main session communicators in an interactive learning environment.
What is the purpose of Friday Night Change?
In a word: Evangelism. CYN is excited to offer Friday Night Change as an opportunity for youth groups to invite their non-Christian friends. This event will be very simple in format. To Tell, Stellar Kart and Manafest will perform a full length concert and Manafest (who is a gifted communicator) will share the gospel with clarity and relevance.
Will there be counseling for those that make first time decisions?
This event is designed to serve youth groups and leaders. Our belief is for the youth leader to be the first and main connection with their students. If you are bringing non-Christian students than you and your leaders need to be prepared to offer any “counseling” needed to your group. Working with the Billy Graham Assoc. Canada, we will do our best to serve individuals as needed.
What is the targeted audience/age group for Change ’11?
Our target audience is mainly high school age young people, but it also has become a gathering to empower and inspire emerging leaders in their 20 – 30’s. We want to be careful to not exclude anyone because of age, etc. as we believe that those that are looking to receive a message of Change will be able to transfer that to whatever their “workplace/life” is (school, work, home community, etc).
Will there be anything specific for Youth Leaders?
Yes, this is the 2nd year we are pleased to offer a special Leader’s Lounge hosted by Simply Youth Ministry (Group Canada). A place for youth leaders to relax, connect with other leaders, get some FREE swag and learn about new resources. We welcome and are excited to be working with SYM/Group Canada. For more information please look at our Leader’s Tab.
